OICR Translational Research Conference

The Ontario Cancer Research Institute (OICR) held a conference on Translational Research in Ontario on March 25th and 26th. The CCC had the opportunity to make a poster presentation entitled: A Stakeholder Charter for Patient and Patient Group and Patient Group Engagement in Cancer Clinical Trials. The authors of this project are Stéphanie Michaud, Judy Needham, Stephen Sundquist, Dominique Johnson, Sabrina Hanna, Sharareh Hosseinzadeh, Vatche Bartekian, Patricia Steele, Sarita Benchimol, Nathalie Ross, Barry D. Stein.

The project was made possible through the collaboration between the CCC and members of stakeholder groups involved in the clinical trials continuum, from industry, clinical trial associations, patient groups and academic research groups.

In addition, the CCC had the opportunity to participate in a trade show where it distributed various pamphlets and other information on the services available to colorectal available to colorectal cancer patients as well as its most recent post-COVID-19 initiative to build capacity within the Canadian health care system to deal with the next wave.

One of the highlights of the conference was the CLINICAL TRIALS Window of Opportunity (WOO). These clinical trials focus on Phase 0 cancer. These studies represent a way to accelerate the process of developing new drugs, to improve the understanding of pharmacodynamic parameters and to help as well as to help develop a better selection of biomarkers.

Special thanks to Dr. Stéphanie Michaud (BioCanRx) for representing our Team at the OICR conference! See her presentation here:
