Ryan’s Story

Ryan and I were married in 2016 in the Canadian Rockies, where we had just moved to start living our dream life together in the mountains. That dream came to a quick and abrupt end just a year later when Ryan was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. As an avid and accomplished athlete, only 34 years of age, this was a total shock to us. Ryan had not experienced any symptoms until the month leading up to his diagnosis. Treatment started soon after diagnosis and we enjoyed a brief improvement following the first few rounds of chemotherapy. Unfortunately, this didn’t last long and within a matter of months, all treatments options had been exhausted. Nine months after diagnosis, Ryan died at age 35.
