Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and this year, Colorectal Cancer Canada is putting a spotlight on the importance of screening with a national call to action: Screen at 45.

Colorectal cancer can affect anyone. In Canada, 72 people are diagnosed every day. Yet, it is one of the most preventable, treatable, and beatable cancers when caught early, with a 90% cure rate in its early stages.

That is why our focus this year is clear. We are advocating to lower the routine screening age to 45 and empower Canadians to take control of their health through regular screening. Colorectal cancer is not just an older person’s disease. More and more younger adults are being diagnosed, often without knowing the signs or symptoms.

This March, we are encouraging all Canadians to start the conversation, learn the risks, recognize the symptoms, and make screening a priority. Because when it comes to colorectal cancer, early detection can save lives.

Dress in Blue

On March 6th, 2026, we are encouraging everyone to dress in blue to show support of those touched by colorectal cancer, while raising awareness about this Preventable, Treatable, and Beatable disease that will be diagnosed in approximately 25,000 Canadians this year. Join the movement by organizing a workplace Dress in Blue event and/or sharing your personal ‘blue’ fashion style on your social media platforms by using the hashtag: #dressinblue and by tagging @coloncanada.

This year, in honour of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month we are going bigger than ever! CCC has arranged for landmarks* across Canada to light up in blue as part of their support for colorectal cancer awareness. From coast to coast, these landmarks will be illuminated to get the conversation going and increase awareness of the disease! If you are near one of the illuminated sights a photo of you, family, friends, and/or pets would be an extra bonus! Don’t forget to post the pictures on your socials and mention us by using #dressinblue and tagging @coloncanada.

All of the landmarks across Canada that will be lit up in blue this March 6th:

  • The Toronto CN Tower
  • La Grande Roue Montréal

This March, we March

We are calling on our entire community to join us on Parliament Hill on March 10 to deliver a single, undeniable message to our legislators: 50 is too late. We will gather as one voice with one message: earlier screening saves lives. We will create a “Blue Wave” on the Hill—survivors, caregivers, and supporters standing shoulder-to-shoulder to demand the change our community deserves. To ensure this visual is impossible to ignore, we ask that you please come dressed in blue.

We will provide the signs and Blue Toques to top off your blue attire and keep you warm; we just need you to bring your voice and your presence. Whether you are walking for yourself, for a loved one, or for the future of healthcare in Canada, your presence sends a powerful signal that politicians cannot ignore.

Let’s make sure they hear us loud and clear.

  • WHEN: March 10, 2026 at 11:00am
  • WHERE: Parliament Hill, Ottawa – Centennial Flame.
  • WHY: To lower the screening age to 45.
